Murray

Murray is one of the most practical places to live in the valley, and that word is meant as a genuine compliment. It's centrally located, well-connected by transit, and offers a range of housing options at price points that are more accessible than the east bench communities around it.

The TRAX light rail runs through Murray, and the Murray Central Station provides direct access to downtown Salt Lake City, the University of Utah, and the airport. For commuters, that connectivity is a real differentiator. You don't have to drive if you don't want to, and that changes the math on daily costs and quality of life.

Murray's housing stock is a mix of older neighborhoods with established homes and pockets of newer development. You'll find mid-century homes, townhomes, and condos across a range of price points. The area around Murray Park and the east side of the city tends to feel more residential and family-oriented, while the west side has more commercial development and mixed-use.

Intermountain Medical Center is a major presence in Murray and one of the largest employers in the area. The Murray School District is its own entity, separate from Granite and Canyons, which means it's smaller and more focused. Murray High School serves the area and carries a solid reputation.

Murray Park is 55 acres and serves as the city's recreational anchor, with sports fields, picnic areas, an outdoor pool, and an amphitheater. The annual Murray Fun Days celebration draws the community together every summer.

The tradeoff with Murray is that it doesn't carry the prestige or the visual appeal of the east bench communities. The views aren't as dramatic, the lots aren't as large, and the streetscapes are more functional than scenic. For some buyers that matters. For others, the access, the affordability, and the convenience more than make up for it.

Murray works best for people who value practicality, transit access, and getting more home for their money. If your priority is a well-located place to live that doesn't stretch your budget, Murray deserves serious consideration.
